Morgan Gibbs-White snub leads to Nottingham Forest transfer theory

Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White has been left out of UEFA's 'team of the tournament' for the 2023 Under-21 Euros despite playing a key role in England's historic victory.

The Young Lions won the title in Batumi, Georgia by winning every game without conceding. A deflected goal in first-half stoppage time by Liverpool's Curtis Jones and a late penalty save from goalkeeper James Trafford helped to seal a first Euros title in 39 years for England.

Gibbs-White was sent off towards the end of Saturday's final at the Adjarabet Arena after he was substituted, but it did not matter as the Young Lions went on to seal a fantastic win.

But despite playing almost every minute of the tournament, Gibbs-White was left out of its best eleven by UEFA'S technical observers’ panel. The team picked was: Trafford; Garner, Harwood-Bellis, Colwill (all England), Miranda; Rodri, Blanco (all Spain), Jones (Eng), Gómez; Ruiz (both Spa), Gordon (Eng).

Here is what Reds fans had to say on social media about the snub, with many believing it could work in Forest's favour...

James Tudbury: Good, keep him under the radar, he feels the love at the WFCG (World Famous City Ground)

Jon Bridge: Keep him under the radar

Laird James Robert Powell: Sounds like a plan. Let’s limit his exposure and profile to such an extent whereby he can just quietly go about his business as being the best young talent going and smashing it at the CG and every stage for that matter.

ForestSince: Keeps him on the down low, fine by me, we all know how good he is, that’s all that matters

ShakeyDay: How Gibbs White isn't in that team is beyond me

Peter Naylor: We know his true worth

Chris NFFC Tönnies: Unbelievable #shambles

Joe Frost: Who cares. People who watch matches can decide for themselves how good a player is/was. Shouldn’t need to be on a list or receive an award.
