Miley Cyrus addresses theories that she’s headlining Super Bowl halftime show

Miley Cyrus is playing coy about whether she wants to take on the biggest stage in the world.

The singer, 33, is currently the betting favorite to perform at the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which would follow Bad Bunny’s history-making performance in Santa Clara, California, this year.

However, Cyrus said that the massive undertaking “feels like too much pressure.”

“I would have to do the mental work of making it not about the Super Bowl, because then you can’t help but go, ‘It’s millions of people, and it’s the most-watched thing in the world,’” the superstar told Variety in an interview published Wednesday.

As she prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her breakout Disney Channel series, Hannah Montana, with an hour-long special on Disney+, Cyrus said that the Super Bowl performance would have to be focused on the fans like the forthcoming show will be.

“But if I could find a way to make it exactly what the Hannahversary was — taking a journey through the discography and appreciating each song, each era for what it is — I think I could find it in myself,” she told the outlet.

Days after Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance in February, gambling company FanDuel revealed Cyrus to be the most favored artist among betters to receive the headlining spot with +310 odds on her performing at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Valentine’s Day for Super Bowl LXI.

The Grammy winner’s name has been thrown around for the huge show for years. Fans have routinely noted that Cyrus’s discography has spanned genres from pop to country to rock, meaning that there would be something in the potential show for multiple audience demographics to enjoy.

Cyrus previously headlined the TikTok Tailgate show for Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida, in 2021, where she performed for 7,500 healthcare workers. The setlist featured guest stars Billy Idol and Joan Jett as Cyrus performed hits like “Wrecking Ball” and gave a shout-out showing her support for Britney Spears at the time.

The singer has had her fair share of hits over the years, with over a dozen of her songs entering the Billboard Hot 100. Her 2023 single “Flowers” peaked at No. 1 for eight weeks, while “Wrecking Ball” was the top song for three weeks upon its release in 2013.

Behind Cyrus, betters on FanDuel wager that other stars primed to take the Super Bowl stage might include Cardi B, Lil Wayne or Taylor Swift.
