Man arrested with drugs worth Rs 2.5 crore in Manipur

IMPHAL: The special commando unit of Manipur Police seized brown sugar, opium and World is Yours (WY) tablets worth around Rs 2.5 crore and arrested a person from Motbung area in Kangpokpi district on Friday night.

During checking carried out near a waiting shed at Motbung Pangmol along National Highway 39, five police teams, led by officer-in-charge of special commando unit Subedar Bibekananda Singh, arrested Paominlen Haokip (35) of Moreh in Tengnoupal district around 8pm, police sources said.

Police found the drugs in a polythene bag, Rs 2,700 and nine mobile phones, the sources said, adding that the accused have been handed over to Sapermeina police.
