Liverpool supporters have been reacting to reports that Alexis Mac Allister's move from Brighton & Hove Albion could cost the Reds just £35m.
As reported by the ECHO earlier this week, the Argentine midfielder was given the green light by the Seagulls to conduct his medical. ahead of an Anfield switch. Liverpool are hopeful of tying up a deal before the 24-year-old joins up with his international team-mates for their friendlies against Australia and Indonesia later this month.
Despite initial reports elsewhere claiming a deal could end up costing the Reds a fee in the region of £60-£70m, it is believed a deal is in fact closer to the £45m mark.
However, on Wednesday morning, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano went even lower than that as he suggested a deal, which was instigated by Anfield officials triggering a clause in Mac Allister's contract, is now in place with the final fee around £35m.

Taking to Twitter to provide an update, Romano said: "Liverpool have just signed Alexis Mac Allister for £35m.. Liverpool have now triggered the clause to sign the midfielder after medical tests [were] completed with Brighton’s permission. Documents are being signed."
And following the claim, Liverpool supporters could not believe what could be the latest coup for Jurgen Klopp's side:
Watch LFC tweeted: "People often say 'how much? For that you can have his left peg'. But it genuinely applies here with Mac Allister. £35m is absolutely mental and around half the price any reasonable person thought he would go for."
Sam Tighe wrote: "£35m for Alexis Mac Allister is shifty stuff. In what could end up a real bloodbath of a market for midfielders, Liverpool have scooped a bit of a bargain early doors".
And Talking Anfield posted: "We just signed Mac Allister for the same fee we paid for Ox 6 years ago".
Meanwhile, even supporters of other Premier League clubs were impressed by the work of Anfield officials.
"£35m? Fair play to Liverpool for that recruitment," said Jamie Martin, a Nottingham Forest fan. "Still a decent amount of budget left too, I'd imagine - they still need another midfielder, really."
