The LEGO Group is marking the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace with the release of the movie's first-ever diorama set. Dioramas are a newer type of LEGO model that focuses more on display rather than play, showcasing iconic moments from the Star Wars franchise. The latest addition to this collection is the Mos Espa Podrace Diorama (75380), depicting young Anakin Skywalker's thrilling podrace on Tatooine.
Set to launch on May 1st, just before Star Wars Day, the Mos Espa Podrace Diorama comprises 718 pieces and captures the intense race through desert canyons between Anakin and Sebulba. Priced at $79.99, this set is designed for fans aged 18 and above.
Accompanying the Mos Espa Podrace Diorama are two other Phantom Menace-inspired sets. The Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator (78353) and the newly revealed Droideka (75381) will also be available for purchase on May 1st. The Droideka set, priced at $64.99, features 583 pieces and includes one minifigure.
The Droidekas, or Destroyer Droids, made their debut in The Phantom Menace as formidable adversaries with unique abilities. These droids could transform into a ball form for rapid movement and deploy personal shield generators, making them a formidable force on the battlefield. The LEGO Droideka set will replicate this transformation feature, adding to its appeal for fans.
