Kosovo’s acting prime minister Albin Kurti was pelted with eggs during a parliamentary session in Pristina on Saturday, as the government moved to constitute its new parliament following the June 7 snap election.
The attack, led by an opposition lawmaker, came after Kurti asked the speaker for additional time to negotiate a political agreement with opposition parties, a request which was granted.
Vetevendosje, the election-winning party, convened Saturday’s session despite objections from opposition parties and some constitutional law experts, who argued it was unconstitutional.
They argue that the 30-day deadline set by the Constitutional Court for constituting parliament expired on Friday.
