Bhongir MP and senior Congress leader Komatireddy Venkata Reddy has been appointed star campaigner of the Congress in Telangana.
The appointment was approved by AICC president, Sonia Gandhi and comes into immediate effect, according to a communication released by K.C. Venugopal, General Secretary of AICC.
After receiving the orders, Mr. Reddy said that he would now extend his fight against the TRS government across the state and bring Congress back into power. All these days he had confined himself to the Nalgonda district. Lashing out at the government, he said the Chief Minister had failed Telangana turning it into a debt-ridden state by securing unprecedented loans.
Mr. Reddy said the TRS was the only government that was not extending any benefit to the tenant farmers who were actually into farming and working on the fields. The major chunk of benefits was going to big landlords who were not doing agriculture but were into real estate.
Moreover, the government was doing real estate business threatening the poor farmers who were given assigned lands by the previous Congress governments. “It was shameful that instead of protecting the poor farmers from the land grabbers the government itself was threatening them to hand over the lands for real estate business,” he alleged.
