The Israeli Defense Forces conducted a targeted strike on the central headquarters of Hezbollah in Beirut, Lebanon, as announced by the IDF on Friday. The IDF spokesperson Rear admiral Daniel Hagari revealed that the headquarters were deliberately situated beneath residential buildings, highlighting Hezbollah's tactic of using Lebanese civilians as human shields.
Following the Israeli strikes, videos and images captured plumes of smoke billowing over Beirut, indicating the impact of the operation. The IDF spokesperson Hagari pointed out that Hezbollah initiated attacks on Israel on Oct. 8, after almost a year of continuous rocket, missile, and drone assaults on Israeli civilians.
Expressing Israel's stance on the matter, Hagari emphasized that Israel had been issuing warnings to the international community regarding the threat posed by Hezbollah and the necessity to curb their activities. He stated that Israel's actions were in line with the actions any sovereign state would take when faced with a terrorist organization seeking its destruction along its borders.
The IDF's operation aimed to safeguard Israeli citizens and ensure their ability to reside in their homes securely. The strike on Hezbollah's central headquarters underscores Israel's commitment to defending its people and responding decisively to threats posed by hostile entities.
