Two floors of a house in Ilkeston were "well alight" during a fire in a residential street. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) said the first floor of the property, in Haddon Street, had collapsed as a result of the blaze which was reported on Thursday morning (June 8).
Police and fire crews are at the scene and the road has been shut at Norman Road while they deal with the incident. A spokesperson said the fire had also spread from the two storey house onto the roof of a neigbouring property.
"The ground and first floor were well alight, the first floor has collapsed," they said in an update at around 8.20am. "Two appliances are still there fighting the fire."
"The call came through to DFRS at 3.08am. Gas and electricity has been isolated. Structural engineer has been requested. Police and EMAS were in attendance but we don't think EMAS were there for casualty.
"At the height of the fire there were four pumps there and an aerial ladder platform. There will be a fire investigation at some point this morning."
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: "Emergency services are currently attending a house fire on Haddon Street in Ilkeston, and they are expected to remain in the area for some time. Haddon Street is currently closed at Norman Road, and we would urge people to avoid the area."
