Heartbroken parents of Mother's Day baby Hunter who tragically died to hold Lion King funeral

A fundraising appeal has been launched to support the heartbroken parents of a beautiful baby boy who tragically died the day after he was born on Mother's Day.

Little Hunter Lindsley was the best gift first-time parents Lucy and Adam Lindsley could wish for when he arrived at 9.25am on Sunday, March 19. Weighing a healthy 7lb 9oz, Hunter was delivered by caesarean section at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Lucy, 20, and Adam, 26, shared their joy with Chronicle Live, and couldn't wait to bring him home to Stanley to meet the rest of the family. However, just hours after Hunter was brought home on Monday, March 20, the beautiful baby boy suddenly stopped breathing.

The couple phoned 999 and their son was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, but despite the best efforts of medical staff, he tragically died at 10.18pm that night. The family says the cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Lucy and Adam told Chronicle Live: "We both feel empty. We don’t feel like parents as we can’t do the day-to-day things with our little man.

"Instead we're now planning his funeral and just feel so numb. Everything we ever wanted has been taken away in seconds."

Lucy added: "To go from having a caesarean and feeling like he was pulled out to now feeling like he has been ripped away is heart breaking."

Loved ones have rallied around the family following the tragedy and held a balloon release in his memory last week.

A Just Giving Page has been set up to raise funds to help pay for Hunter's Lion King-themed funeral in Stanley which has so far raised £1,439. The funeral service will be held at St Thomas' Church in Stanley, at 11am on April 18, followed by a wake at The Crown and Thistle.

Lucy's sister Chelsey Booth, 31, said she is doing everything she can to support the couple and said all of the funds raised will go towards giving Hunter a beautiful send-off, which will include a horse and carriage and a Lion King coffin.

"I am just trying to take as much pressure off them as I can by sorting the funeral out," she said.

"We are so grateful for any amount that is donated will go towards Hunter's send-off."
