Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran are 2022’s biggest chart toppers so far

Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran have the best selling and most streamed songs and albums of the year so far, new data shows.

According to data released from OfficialCharts.com, the pair have dominated the charts knocking out stiff competition from the likes of We Don’t Talk About Bruno, the global hit song from Disney film Encanto.

Styles’ single, As It Was, managed to swiftly overtake We Don’t Talk About Bruno, which previously had the title of biggest single of the year, in the first week of its release in April.

As It Was is the lead single from the former One Direction star’s third solo album, Harry’s House.

It has also broken the record for the longest-running number one of the year so far having topped the Official Singles chart charts for a staggering 10 weeks.

The single has also generated over 95 million streams and is also the most physically purchased (11,000 units) and digitally downloaded (33,000 units) song of the year so far in the country.

Styles,28, came in at number two biggest seller on the album charts with Harry’s House, which raked in 244,000 UK chart sales since its release in May.

The album spent three non-consecutive weeks at the number one spot on the Official Albums Chart this year and no other release this year has sold more copies on physical formats.

Sheeran, 31, meanwhile, comes in at a close second thanks to his feature on Afrobeats singer Fireboy DML’s global hit single Peru.

The track peaked at number two on the Official Singles Chart, also beating out We Don’t Talk About Bruno, which is now the third biggest song of 2022 in the UK so far.

Sheeran also managed two other entries in the top 10 singles with Bad Habits at number four and Shivers at number six.

His current album, = (Equals), also takes the top spot for biggest album of the year to date.
