Great British Menu viewers slam 'harsh' judge's scores for Edinburgh chefs

Great British Menu fans took to Twitter last night in their masses last night celebrity chef's Richard Corrigan's scorings for the Edinburgh chefs competing.

The TV chef was on the show as guest judge last night to critique the work of the Scottish chefs - including Edinburgh's own Stuart Ralston and Fraser Smith - but left fans branding him "arrogant" with his behaviour.

Last night the Scottish chefs were asked to present starters and fish courses to Corrigan - who has cooked for the likes of the Queen and Barrack Obama.

Stuart - who runs Noto and Aizle in Edinburgh's city centre - tried to impress Richard (who has two Michelin stars) with his sea trout tartar while Fraser from Angel with Bagpipes on the Royal Mile plated up a venison tartar with smoked egg and apple.

However, Richard warned the contestants that he had "high expectations" before dishing out the scores - with Fraser scoring the least and getting the chop from this week's Scottish rounds of the show.

One Twitter user moaned: "Just settled myself down to watch #greatbritishmenu and see Richard Corrigan is the guest chef judge. Immediately switch over. I cannot even explain my irrational dislike of him."

Another fan of the show agreed, writing: "I don't like the judge tonight. Too arrogant and negative comments #greatbritishmenu"

Slamming the celebrity chef's scores, one added: "His harsh scoring is beyond the pale! Disappointing giving a 5 & 6 for the fish dishes when the chefs gave 7 and 8’s."

Great British Menu continues tonight at 9pm on BBC Two - you can view last night's episode here .
