Grand National winner dies after suffering sudden illness

Grand National Noble Yeats Sam WaleyCohen

Noble Yeats, the 2022 Grand National winner, has died at the age of 11 after suffering from colic.
The horse made history by winning the Grand National as a 50-1 outsider, with amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen riding his final career race.
Sam Waley-Cohen and owner Robert Waley-Cohen said that Noble Yeats “fulfilled our dreams” and was a “great champion”.
Noble Yeats won seven of his 24 races, accumulating over £750,000 in prize money, and also secured a victory in the Cleeve Hurdle in 2024.
He had been retired due to arthritis before his sudden illness and death.
