Grand National winner dies after suffering sudden illness

  • Noble Yeats, the 2022 Grand National winner, has died at the age of 11 after suffering from colic.
  • The horse made history by winning the Grand National as a 50-1 outsider, with amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen riding his final career race.
  • Sam Waley-Cohen and owner Robert Waley-Cohen said that Noble Yeats “fulfilled our dreams” and was a “great champion”.
  • Noble Yeats won seven of his 24 races, accumulating over £750,000 in prize money, and also secured a victory in the Cleeve Hurdle in 2024.
  • He had been retired due to arthritis before his sudden illness and death.
