Gordon Ramsay 'buys £9.6m second home on same street in Cornwall' amid neighbour war

Gordon Ramsay has reportedly bought a second house on a street in Cornwall — despite the bitter war with his neighbours.

The Hell’s Kitchen star snapped up a £4.4million home in the coastal village of Rock in 2015 and spent millions turning it into a modern glass and wood construction described as a “stack of containers” by locals.

The TV chef, 59, and his wife Tana have now allegedly bought a second home a dozen doors down for £9.65 million, making it the most expensive house ever sold in the county.

The Ramsays purchased the four-bedroom 19th-century property through their new company Rocky Bay Estates, according to the Daily Mail.

The couple — who have been clashing with their son-in-law Adam Peaty’s family — obtained the home with a mortgage from the bank Coutts, Land Registry documents show.

The couple have also bought the two-acre plot next to the house.

The Standard has contacted the Ramsays’ representative for comment.

The Ramsays bought their first Cornwall home — a Twenties mansion — in 2015 and won planning permission to demolish it and build a modern pad in its place.

More than 20 neighbours had objected to his plans, with one calling it a “monstrosity”.

The luxury escape, which has a swimming pool and looks out over the sea, was finished in March 2021.

The Ramsays stayed at the property for much of lockdown in 2020, causing some residents to complain about “second homers”.

Locals were reportedly furious with Ramsay for leaving London, with members of a local Facebook group saying the family had risked spreading the virus.

Others threatened to reveal Ramsay’s address if he does not leave.

“The big s*** should take himself and his family the hell out of Cornwall,” one said, according to The Sun.

“He’s swanning around the shops as if nothing is wrong. He’s had pool engineers over. There is no defence at all,” said another.

A third added: “Wealthy second homers think making a few quid means they are immune from the virus and any rules. They are arrogant at this best of times, this has shown how bad some of them are.”

The TV chef has said in a radio interview: “I absolutely love Cornwall. It's just the Cornish I can't stand.”

The home also featured in his new Netflix documentary, with Ramsay seen arriving at his house by helicopter and praising the outdoor lifestyle in Cornwall.

The Ramsays have built up a significant property portfolio over the years.

They sold another home in Rock, Daymer Bay House, for £7.5 million in 2022. At the time, it was the most expensive house ever sold in Cornwall.

The couple also sold a property in Fowey, the Grade II-listed former bank Trevail House, for an undisclosed sum in 2020.
