THREE people have been saved from a house fire on Greta Street at Aberdare.
Emergency services were called to reports of the home well alight near Cessnock shortly after 9am on Friday morning, November 15.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said four patients were treated for smoke inhalation, and one patient had minor burns to their lower limbs.
"We are still on scene and assessing the situation, but two people have been transported to Cessnock hospital," they told the Newcastle Herald around 9.30am.
In a statement issued shortly before noon, Fire and Rescue NSW said three people had been rescued.
More than 30 Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters and 10 fire trucks responded to multiple Triple Zero (000) calls to the home on fire.
Upon arrival, FRNSW crews found the house fully engulfed with fire, with large volumes of smoke issuing from the property.
Firefighters quickly got to work to extinguish the blaze but were forced to withdraw to a safer position after the roof collapsed.
"Part of the single-storey home has collapsed," they confirmed to the Newcastle Herald around 9.45am.
Crews gained control of the fire by 10.30am and are continuing to extinguish hot spots with the assistance of an aerial ladder pumper truck that can gain access from up and over the property.
Several gas cylinders on the site that were venting and on fire have also been contained and extinguished.
The public was advised to avoid the area as operations continued with crews rotating and rehabilitating throughout the morning. Investigations will continue to determine the cause of the fire.
