First look on board the Qatar World Cup's HMS WAG

ITV's Lorraine gave her viewers a first look on board the HMS Wag.

As the England team landed in Qatar, their entourage of partners, wives, girlfriends and children also tagged along for the journey. Now a full family event, it appears the WAGs will be sequestered on their own private luxury liner for the majority of their time in Doha.

The women will be placed in "a bubble" in the form of a £1bn cruise ship which has broken records for some of its amenities. Boasting the world's largest slide on a luxury liner, the HMS WAG holds 260,000 cabins, six swimming pools, a promenade, 14 ocean-view whirlpools, 13 dining venues and more than 30 cafes and bars.

Lorraine gave viewers an onboard look at the space the WAGs will be calling home, visiting the dining room, casino and bar. The cruise ship also has its own restaurants and lounge that "are connected by a Swarovski staircase" along with their own personal decks.

The wives and girlfriends received an official briefing ahead of their arrival, warning them of their internet use and the possibilities that may lead to them being imprisoned. Access to certain websites is blocked in the Gulf state and anyone who facilitates the spread of "fake news" may face criminal charges.

The Mirror reported a source said of the security lesson: "It was a long, detailed session. But it was not all about hotels and restaurants. It was much more about support from the FA and tips on culture, and the importance of online security.

"The online warnings made up a big part of it. There were also some genuine concerns about hacking."
