Ed Sheeran has had to stop boozing before his shows, after he kicked his loop pedal over on stage during a performance one record exec called “dreadful”.
The singer now enjoys a few glasses of wine after a show. “They used to give me tequila shots in between the songs to get me to play longer,” he says.
“I just remember hitting my loop pedal and it flipping over. And afterwards, there was a guy who was in A&R, a record label, that walked up and [said], ‘That was really dreadful.’ I was like, ‘I’m never ever, ever drinking before stage again.’”
Previously admitting taking drugs twice a day, but Ed vowed to stay clean of them since the death of his pal Jamal Edwards.
Ed says parenting while touring is “tough”, but still plans to bring his daughters Lyra, two, and Jupiter, one, on the road with him, telling Apple Music: “I think it’s far more important to have two loving parents actively in your life than one absent one.”
Over the weekend, Ed clarified that he was never asked to perform at the Coronation concert, as he stepped in for Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on American Idol, while they performed.
Reports had claimed he had turned down an invite, but he insists that nobody asked him.
