Despite stirs, Andhra Pradesh govt to effect new pay scale

AMARAVATI: Not with standing the threats of the employees, the state government has decided to go ahead with payment of salaries based on new fitment announced by the chief minister.

The finance department issued detailed guidelines to treasuries to pay January salaries on or after February 1 based on revised scales. The CFMS has also readied the new software to release salaries with new pay band.

The finance department issued different GOs bringing new pay scales into effect. Subsequent to the GOs, the finance department late on Wednesday night issued circulars to the treasuries department on the procedure to be adopted for readying the payslips.

"Basic pay shall be fixed in the Revised Pay Scales, 2022 duly merging the existing basic pay with the DA as on 1-7-2018 (30.392%) along with a fitment benefit of 23%. The existing basic pay in RPS 2015 shall be multiplied with a factor of 1.53392 to arrive the new pay in RPS 2022. If the pay so arrived doesn't exactly match the pay slabs in the new scales, the nearest next higher slab shall be adopted for fixation of new pay in the RPS 2022," said finance special chief secretary (finance) SS Rawat.

AP Treasury Services Association president Ravi Kumar and general secretary Devireddy Ramana Reddy condemned the government decision. They refused to follow the government instructions on readying the new scales when their colleagues were on strike.

They said the government directed them to ready new pay slips by Thursday afternoon without taking employees protests into consideration. They requested the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to intervene in the issue. They also appealed to senior officials not to exert pressure to process the bills till the issue of PRC is resolved.
