David Moyes reacts as West Ham lose to Chelsea

David Moyes admits West Ham will have been disappointed to lose their strong home record against Chelsea.

The former Hammers manager was on punditry duty for beIN Sports for the London derby defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday.

The Hammers lost 3-0 at the London Stadium thanks to a first-half brace from Nicolas Jackson, who turned provider in the second-half for Cole Palmer’s strike just after the interval.

It means new manager Julen Lopetegui has won just once in his opening four games and they face a daunting Carabao Cup third-round tie away at Liverpool on Wednesday.

Prior to Saturday’s defeat, West Ham had won three of their last four home meetings against their London rivals, albeit they were thrashed 5-0 under Moyes at Stamford Bridge in May.

“They will be disappointed because we had a good record against Chelsea at the London Stadium over the years,” said the Scot.

“There were difficulties at Stamford Bridge but at home, we’ve been pretty good up against them.

“It’s disappointing, getting the third goal in after half-time.”
