David De Gea makes prediction for Manchester United vs Atletico Madrid second leg

David De Gea has provided his verdict on Manchester United's Champions League first leg draw against Atletico Madrid.

United drew 1-1 with Atleti last night (Wednesday) to leave the last 16 tie finely poised ahead of next month's return fixture at Old Trafford.

Joao Felix had given the hosts the lead in the opening stages at the Wanda Metropolitano with a bullet header which gave De Gea no chance.

An underwhelming performance by United was eventually put to the back of memories when Anthony Elanga slotted home with 10 minutes of normal time remaining.

Speaking to MUTV, De Gea admitted he is looking forward to the clash on Tuesday, March 15 and, particularly, the Old Trafford atmosphere.

"It’s going to be massive, I can’t wait for the game,” the goalkeeper explained.

"It’s always a special night when you play in the Champions League at Old Trafford. The atmosphere is crazy, it’s unbelievable, and hopefully with the energy of the fans and the intensity that we have then it will be a good game for us.

"We have to play better and win the game."

Teenager Elanga was the hero off the bench once more for United and De Gea praised the Swede's impact.

"It was a massive goal and there is everything to play for at Old Trafford," the keeper added.

"For sure we have to improve, and play better to beat Atletico Madrid. So let’s keep improving and be together.

"We all fight just to be in games like today. To be in the biggest competition in Europe.

"So now we have to be very focused. [We want to] give 100 per cent in the next game against Atletico Madrid and be sure that we perform very well and [if we do that], we’ll beat them.”
