Daniel Ricciardo focused on F1 Dutch Grand Prix

Daniel Ricciardo has just eight races left to make a final impression on McLaren before his time with the British team ends.

The Australian comes into this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix off the back of a difficult outing last time in Belgium.

It was a poor weekend overall for McLaren, with both Ricciardo and teammate Lando Norris failing to score points.

McLaren sits fifth in the constructors' championship, 20 points behind fourth-place Alpine.

The battle for fourth will be fiercely contested in the final eight races of the season, with a significant financial incentive driving both teams.

Ricciardo has struggled in 2022, which has led to him and the team opting to part ways with a year remaining on his contract.

But the Australian has been adamant he still has the desire to compete at the highest level, which is motivating him for the remainder of the year.

Ricciardo said despite the disappointing result in Belgium — where he was in contention for points for most of the race — there were positives to take into the Dutch Grand Prix.

"Last weekend was not what we wanted it to be, but we've bounced back before so we can definitely do the same this time around," he said.

"We've got some good learnings from [Belgium] which we can use for this weekend so hopefully we come out a bit better and can properly battle with the Alpines."

McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl echoed his Australian driver's comments, as he tries to orchestrate a charge to the top four of the standings.

"We've spent the last few days analysing the past weekend and ensuring we learn as much as possible from it," he said.

"The result in [Belgium] was not what we hoped but we can take these learnings and use them to maximise our package."

Practice for the Dutch Grand Prix begins on Friday, with the race to be held on Sunday evening Australian time.
