Cumbernauld mum fumes as teens launch stones off four-month-old's pram

A mum from Cumbernauld has been left outraged after two teens launched stones across the road which hit her four-month-old daughter's pram as she sat in it.

Murron Mackay was waiting at a bus stop near the town's Central Way with her daughter, Ariya, when she noticed some stones land nearby.

The 24-year-old wasn't entirely sure where they were coming from but was left shocked when she looked across the road and notice two young boys throwing them.

The mum told Glasgow Live: "I could hear some noise coming from the other side of the road but I never took any notice of it.

"Then I noticed something bounce past my pram, I looked but couldn't see anything. Then again I heard a ding and a stone had hit my pram.

"I happened to look over the road and saw two boys and one of them was throwing stones at a fence in the middle of the dual carriageway.

"It took me a second to clock on and then I realised they were the ones throwing them across the road. They were lucky enough to throw the stone through the fence and hit my pram.

"One of them was running across the road and back again whilst making gestures at cars. It was just after 5pm so that road was really busy, he could have caused a serious accident.

"I was ready to go over myself but I couldn't put myself in that position with my wee girl with me. If the hood was down the stones would have landed in her pram and maybe hit her."

Ariya was sat inside when stones struck the pram (supplied)

As the pair continued to throw stones at passing cars, they were oblivious to the potential harm they could have caused to Murron's daughter or the motorists on the road.

The 24-year-old said: "It was disgusting and I was raging.

"As a mum I want to protect my child. My first reaction is to go up to them because you just see red.

"If they did hit my daughter I would have dealt with it. They had no sense of what they were doing."

The mum now hopes that more police officers will patrol the town centre to deter further anti-social behaviour which may put others at risk

Murron added: "If there was more police in the centre this may not have happened."
