Finance guru Martin Lewis has warned people that using an air fryer or microwave instead of an oven is not always the cheaper option.
With the cost of living crisis tightening its grip, many Irish households have invested in air fryers in the belief that they are more economical than using an oven. People have switched from using their ovens but Mr Lewis said people need to think carefully before they do this as they may actually end up paying more in some circumstances.
Speaking on his podcast, he said in the end it comes down to an equation of what uses more energy and obviously with an oven you have the need to heat it up beforehand, reported the Manchester Evening News. He said: "The problem with the equation for heating equipment is an oven is going to be about 2000W.
