Christian Pulisic plan revealed after bumper deal amid Chelsea transfer talk

Christian Pulisic's future at Chelsea will be a hot topic throughout the summer transfer window. The USMNT star enters the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge in June, which means he is likely to be offloaded this year.

The winger has struggled to make a name for himself in England after his 2019 move from Borussia Dortmund. In 142 games for the west Londoners, the 24-year-old has scored 26 goals and assisted 21.

A move last summer fell through before an injury ruled out a possible January move, with Galatasaray said to be keen on his services. AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus have all been credited with interest recently, with a move to Europe the likely outcome.

However, it isn't just on the pitch where Pulisic's services are respected. The former Brackley Town academy player has a brand deal with German sports manufacturer Puma after signing a long-term contract in 2021. "In many ways it was a no-brainer for me to join PUMA," he said.

"With its world class and innovative products, PUMA embodies the culture of sports on and off the pitch," he said. "Their technical innovations revolve around speed, which is one of my biggest weapons. It’s an honour to follow in the PUMA footsteps of some of the greatest players to have ever played the game, Pele, Maradona, and Johan Cruyff.”

Now, Pulisic is being tasked with helping the brand become more popular in the U.S after CEO Arne Freundt revealed company sales in North America had dropped 18.6 percent in the first quarter in 2023

Puma are now planning to restructure their selling power by 'reducing off-price exposure and reviving growth in the channels'. One way the sports brand will seek to elevate its profits is by growing its fanbase in the United States. "We need to strengthen its credibility as a sports brand," Freundt said, saying the company's "strong set of athletes and ambassadors'' is key to the brand and tat it wants to "to amplify them to build up further relevance with the local consumer that we are a true sports brand."

Alongside Pulisic, Puma represents NBA all-star guard LaMelo Ball, professional golfer Rickie Fowler and long-distance runner Molly Seidel.
