Could Dennis Schroder be about to become an Orlando Magic player? According to new reporting from The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn, that could well be the German point guard’s destination by the end of Thursday.
According to Washburn, “the club is working on a package to acquire Orlando swingman Terrence Ross, who has one more year left on his contract, with Dennis Schröder, another player and likely a draft pick headed to the Magic.” With Schroder unlikely to be able to be retained and an imperfect fit coming off the bench with this group of players with the Boston Celtics, just a move could make sense.
And while Ross is having an off season with the Magic from beyond the arc at just 30.8%, he has long shown he can help a team put paints on the board at a high rate in other ways as well.
If the ask were a small one — perhaps something like Schroder, a second-round pick, and Enes Kanter — it would seem an obvious plus for both teams.
