Can Ozempic boost your brain function? Exploring the weight loss drug's many perks

Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs have proved to be revolutionary in managing the epidemic of obesity, treating diabetes, and somewhat reducing the risk of many chronic diseases. Studies are now proving its efficacy in improving brain health. According to a new study published in the journal Alzheimer's & Dementia, Semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy, may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease in people with Type 2 diabetes. This isn't the only study that has demonstrated the benefits of GLP-1 drugs, but adds to the evidence that these drugs may show promise in prevention of dementia.

Known by its generic name, semaglutide, Ozempic is a weekly infection that helps lower blood sugar by supporting pancreas in making more insulin. While it isn't approved for weight loss, many physicians prescribe it to obese people for shedding weight.
