'Big players in big games' - Bernardo Silva on Man City difference vs Bayern

Bernardo Silva thanked Rodri for changing the course of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.

The visitors had given as good as they had received in the opening 25 minutes and Ruben Dias had just made two excellent interventions when Rodri lashed home the opening goal for Manchester City at the Etihad. The home team were spurred on by that goal and went on to dominate in a 3-0 victory that could have been much more were it not for a string of saves from the Bayern goalkeeper.

City were delighted to pick up such a resounding win ahead of the second leg next week in Munich. However, knowing that the scoreline could have been very different if Rodri had not stepped up when he did is enough for the squad to remain cautious about the return fixture.

"Big players in big games," said Bernardo. "He scored a very important goal because in that moment the game could have gone both ways so it gave us the advantage and changed the course of the game so well done to him.

"If you look at the result it looks like it was an easy game but it wasn't at all, the difference was in the small details. Our defenders and goalkeeper were top blocking the shots and our attacking players scored the goals.

"That's what you need in these kind of games because all teams and players are top so you need your top players to show up and make the difference individually."
