Apple's Samplab acquisition has emerged through a European Commission filing, showing that the company bought assets from the Swiss AI audio editing startup in June and hired some of its staff. The disclosure was published on the Commission's Digital Markets Act acquisitions list, although neither Apple nor Samplab has announced the deal publicly.
The filing says Apple, through a subsidiary, would acquire 'certain assets' of Samplab GmbH and 'offer employment to and hire certain Samplab employees'. It describes Samplab simply as a developer of audio editing tools. No price, buyer subsidiary, employee count or product plan is disclosed.
