Newcastle United target Alexander Isak has revealed his ambition to play in the Premier League. The Magpies are closing in on a £58m deal for the Swedish forward, with the club in advanced talks with Real Sociedad.
Newcastle will have to break their current transfer record, which stands at £40m, if they are to get a deal done before the end of the summer. Isak has made no public plea to leave Spain and enjoys a fantastic relationship with Sociedad boss Imanol Alguacil.
Isak has often been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal regularly linked in years gone by. Speaking in 2021, the striker admitted he would be open to playing in the Premier League.

“I am in a good place at the moment, I am very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England,” he said. “They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s a very high level, and of course, one day it could be an alternative.
“Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level. People will always count the goals a striker scorers, and I always want to score, but I want to be a modern striker. I love playing football and that means being involved as much as possible. I think that’s why Spain has suited me very well."
