A White Patch That Will Not Go Away
Leukoplakia, a thick white or greyish patch inside the mouth, is one of the most documented precancerous lesions in Indian men who use smokeless tobacco. A 2020 study published in the Indian Journal of Cancer found that leukoplakia was present in nearly 60% of oral cancer patients at the time of diagnosis, and that the average time between first noticing the patch and seeking care was 14 months. The patch does not hurt. That is exactly why men leave it alone.
