Ten persons from Myanmar, currently admitted to a hospital in Churachandpur district of Manipur with bullet injuries, were intercepted by the Assam Rifles at the border and allowed to enter the State as it was a case of a medical emergency, according to multiple government officials.

NEW DELHI: All-out efforts have been made by the Centre to bring back normalcy in violence hit Manipur through a number of initiatives that include enhanced area domination in fringe areas and higher reaches by security forces, mobilisation of additional troops and close monitoring by senior officials, sources said Friday.

“A soldier from the Assam Rifles was injured while diffusing an improvised bomb in Saitan village in Manipur’s Bishnupur district Friday morning (May 12), about 60 km south of Imphal,” officials said.
