The Welshman produced his most convincing display in a Rally1 car to date on his way to a second WRC victory of the season by 39.1s over Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville.

The Toyota driver reeled off seven consecutive stage wins to turn an overnight 6.9s lead into a commanding 32.1s advantage over Neuville heading into the final day.

Hyundai driver Neuville produced head turning speed on the fast gravel roads to leap into a 6.8s lead over championship leader Kalle Rovanpera, having started the day sitting fourth overall.

The South Korean marque has relaunched a driver development programme as previously reported by Motorsport.com, with Suninen and reigning WRC2 champion Emil Lindholm the first drivers selected to be part of the initiative.

The team is currently searching for at least one driver to join its WRC ranks to share the third i20 N with Dani Sordo following the tragic loss of Craig Breen in a Rally Croatia testing accident in April.
