Danny Buxton has left his most recent role as team principal of rival BTCC squad One Motorsport with immediate effect and has started work this week at Speedworks Motorsport, which competes under the Toyota Gazoo Racing UK banner, as the company’s new head of motorsport.

Hill led from start to finish and used his pole position to build up an early advantage at the wheel of his West Surrey Racing-run BMW 330e M Sport while Sutton worked his way through from sixth on the grid.

Hill whisked his West Surrey Racing-run BMW 330e M Sport around the short Scottish circuit 0.169 seconds quicker than the closest opposition during the slightly less wet second session.

The reversed-grid counter allowed the Northern Irishman to take his tally of wins at the North Yorkshire circuit to a remarkable 14, and for himself and Ingram to mitigate the points damage over the weekend to Ash Sutton, who was a first-lap casualty.

The three-time champion started his Motorbase Performance Ford Focus ST from second on the grid, but he was on the soft Goodyear tyre whereas pole-sitting team-mate Dan Cammish was on the medium compound. 

The local man got the jump at the lights, and headed team-mates Dan Rowbottom and Ash Sutton throughout for a Motorbase Performance Ford Focus ST 1-2-3.
