In 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated Boulder Dam on Colorado River, now Hoover Dam at Arizona-Nevada border is part of feud between states due to climate change
Colorado River system has about 60 million acre-feet of reservoir storage capacity, more than four times its average annual natural flow of 14.9 million acre-feet during the 20th century. That annual flow fell to about 12.3 million acre-feet from 2000 to 2025, reflecting prolonged drought and a warming climate.
