General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) CEO Mary Barra recently discussed the current standing of the automotive industry and touched on the company's transition to electric vehicles; but what may be even more important is what she didn't say. 

Two electrifying moves in recent weeks have the potential to ignite electric vehicle demand in the United States. First, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act, expanding federal tax rebates for EV purchases. Then California approved rules to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035.

GM's Mary Barra has been adamant about the automaker beating Tesla and becoming the EV leader by 2025. However, she didn't reiterate that in a recent interview.

The plan is for production to begin in 2025. The factory will make 40 gigawatt-hours of battery packs each year.

It seems that electric car adoption has exceeded predictions and the future looks even brighter for EVs.
