Staff have called on Amazon to remember its mission to be 'Earth's Best Employer' and let them work on a more hybrid basis, instead of coming back to the office three days a week.

Employees have previously benefited from the company's stock awards scheme, until the share price began to tank.

The boss at the online giant said it is a "really difficult time" but insisted the company's best days are "unquestionably" ahead.

When their phone pinged with a meeting reminder in January, one former Amazon employee was confused. The company had let them go four days earlier — yet they were still getting invitations to new meetings.
