Zidane rises, Pochettino falls - Latest next Chelsea manager odds to replace Graham Potter

Graham Potter's future at Chelsea continues to be the dominating topic from west London after calls for him to be sacked increased over the weekend. The Blues suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Southampton and in the following days, multiple managerial requests were made by Chelsea fans about the options who could replace Potter, but it looks as though he will be given more time at the helm.

Although Potter has managed just one win in 2023, football.london understands Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali – for now – remain supportive of him and his job isn't under immediate threat. With clashes against Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund on the horizon, Potter faces a crucial few weeks to get the supporters back on his side after loud boos emanated from Stamford Bridge at the full time whistle of the weekend defeat.

A number of new managers have been brought forward as possible replacements, with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino the early favourite. Following his dismissal from Paris-Saint Germain in the summer of 2022, Pochettino has not returned to management and the Chelsea job does not look likely to tempt him back into the fold, according to a new report.

The ex-Spurs boss is said to have turned down an initial approach to replace Potter at Stamford Bridge, as per 90min. Their report also states that some within Chelsea's hierarchy have huge concerns about the club's form and do not share the same belief as Boehly that Potter can turn the club around.

Despite this claim, Pochettino remains as the favourite at 3/1 to take the helm at Chelsea if Potter departs - though his odds are drifting, according to OddsChecker. Their live updates also indicate that four managers have seen their odds of becoming the next Chelsea manager shorten.

Zinedine Zidane is still among the frontrunners and is now at 6/1 after he left Real Madrid for the second time in the last five years in the summer of 2021. The French icon has already explained his managerial stance on coming to England and he has already identified what will likely be his next job.

Former Spain boss Luis Enrique has gone up in the pecking order and now stands at 8/1. Prior to pressure massively increasing on Potter in recent days, Enrique was said to have been lined up by Boehly as the next Chelsea manager if results didn't improve under the current regime.

The man who was replaced by Potter, Thomas Tuchel, is also at 8/1 with the German coach still a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge after winning the Champions League. Tuchel may be closing in on a managerial return though with another of his former clubs, Paris-Saint Germain, ready to re-appoint him and admit they made a mistake sacking him in the first place.

The final name seeing his odds shortened is another former Chelsea boss who also won trophies during his time in west London, and many of them. AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is placed at 12/1, although his focus will be on proceedings in Italy with Roma third in Serie A and still in the Europa League, looking to overturn their knockout play-off round first leg defeat to RB Salzburg on Thursday.
