A young Scots actor has opened up on the challenges he faced while filming Matilda The Musical - most of which was done during the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown.
Isaac Chan Adams, 11, who's a student at the Theatre School of Scotland, is the only Scottish star in the latest recreation of the Roald Dahl classic.
The youngster, from Glasgow, had to spend seven months away from his family and friends because of strict rules during the pandemic whilst shooting at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England.
Isaac - who played Matilda's classmate - had to relocate down south during filming along with his parents to ensure they complied with Covid regulations.
Speaking to the Record about his adventure, he said: "It was quite weird at first. I had to move away... leaving my family and friends behind.
"We had to wear masks all day, everyday, apart from when we were actually in the studio filming. It felt quite strange. I couldn't come home because we weren't really allowed to. It was safer to stay where we were.
"Everyone had to stay apart from each other as well. Apart from when we were in front of a camera.
"My friends at school kept asking me why I was moving away for so long and going for all these auditions, but I couldn't tell them because it was a secret. I had to tell them a lie.
"I tried to tell them some stuff but not too much. I ended up telling them that I was going to film a peanut butter ad."
This is Isaac's big break in the industry, and he already has his sights set on other roles in the future.
He's also training as a dancer, popper and martial artist - with the actor keen to put the latter to use in a Marvel production.
Isaac added: "That would be great."
This is the second film adaptation of Matilda, after the iconic 1996 version directed by and starring Danny DeVito, and promises to be another heartwarming film over the festive season.
Mark Adams, Isaac's dad, added: "It was just an incredible experience, and really emotional. I still get emotional speaking about it.
"It was pretty special."
Matilda The Musical starring Emma Thompson, is currently in UK and Ireland cinemas, and arrives on Netflix to the rest of the world on Christmas Day.
It'll be released on Netflix in the UK and Ireland in summer 2023.
Isaac is represented by KR Management.
