A police probe has been launched after a young man was knocked down and killed by a car in Edinburgh.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7am on Tuesday, July 4, following reports of a pedestrian being hit.
The 21-year-old was tragically pronounced dead by medics a short time later. The male driver of the silver Toyota Auris was uninjured during the collision.
Officers closed the road for around five hours to allow for a full accident investigation to take place. Police are now urging any witnesses who have yet to come forward to contact them.
Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are working to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information which has not yet been passed to police to get in touch.
“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.
“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 0497 of 4 July, 2023.”
