Right-wing podcaster Candace Owens found herself in hot water after French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte filed a major lawsuit against her in the United States. The legal action comes after Owens made repeated claims about Brigitte Macron’s gender identity on her popular podcast and social media platforms.
The lawsuit was filed in Delaware Superior Court on July 23, 2025, with 22 counts of defamation against Owens. The Macrons are seeking substantial damages from the conservative commentator for what they call false and harmful statements about the French First Lady. The legal papers accuse Owens of spreading conspiracy theories despite clear evidence that contradicted her claims. This follows her previous pattern of making unfounded claims about prominent figures, including attacks on Kamala Harris’ heritage.
