Year after NDTV exit, Prannoy Roy returns with new venture deKoder

Nearly one year after the Adani Group’s takeover of NDTV, the channel’s founder Prannoy Roy has returned with his new venture deKoder – an AI-driven website and app to analyse issues in several Indian languages.

In its first show uploaded on Monday, Prannoy Roy discussed a range of issues with author Ruchir Sharma, from elections across the world to the economic slowdown.

Roy had resigned as director of the board of NDTV’s promoter RRPR on November 29 last year. A month later, soon after the Adani Group became the largest shareholder in NDTV, Roy and his wife Radhika Roy sold 27.26 percent of their remaining 32.26 percent to the conglomerate.

Their exit from NDTV was followed by a spate of resignations from the top management, such as the company’s group president Suparna Singh, chief strategy officer Arijit Chatterjee, chief technology and product officer Kawaljit Bedi, as well as top anchors such as Ravish Kumar, Sreenivasan Jain and Nidhi Razdan.
