Messing with an ex’s car after they have burned you is a classic tale of revenge. The revenge act may include keying the vehicle, tire slashing, or getting their car towed.
One woman decided to take her revenge to the next level. She took the man’s alternator out of his car.
In a TikTok with over 20.8 million views as of this writing, Jayla (@jaylaplease) shows how she learned how to take out an alternator on YouTube.
“I took the alternator out of his car,” Jayla begins.
With work gloves on, she stands proudly in front of the car holding the alternator.
“YouTube showed me,” she says.
Jayla casually explains the different components of the alternator and how she was able to locate the parts that needed to be taken apart.
“It’s one, two screws. Built another screw. Electrical thingy,” she explains.
“Y’all need help how to take the alternator out of his car? I can show you,” she concludes.
Is Removing An Alternator An Easy DIY Project?
Getting an alternator replaced at a dealership can cost $1,000 for a new alternator. So it may be worth looking into doing the fix yourself.
One woman initially got her alternator fixed for $1,000 but shortly after had another issue arise and was quoted another $800 to fix it. So she decided to grab the tools and get to work herself instead. This decision ended up paying off; she was able to fix her alternator for $30 instead of paying a mechanic $800.
Changing your own alternator is considered to be an intermediate repair job to DIY, Advance Auto Parts reports. While the job isn’t complicated, it does require preparation and research before diving in.
According to O'Reilly Auto Parts, removing the alternator consists of disconnecting the battery and voltage regulator and removing belt tensioners, wires, and bolts attached to alternator. It’s important to ensure that all electric components are completely off. Once that’s complete and the alternator is removed, you can install the new one
J.D Power notes that you’ll need car tools, gloves, a belt tensioner tool, voltmeter, replacement belt, and of course a new alternator to complete the replacement. The DIY job can take anywhere from two to four hours. And be aware that issues may arise like a bolt being stuck in place.

Viewers in the comments section were impressed that Jayla was able to figure out how to take out the alternator.

While other viewers suggested being careful with revealing their secrets to the public.
“For legal purposes this is literally a joke; she’s fixing her car,” one commented.
“Don’t post the evidence! Good grief, be discreet with your pettiness! Don't forget to go sell the part to a junk yard and get some money for it,” another wrote.
