Woman tries Australian McDonald's and can't believe the difference in menu items

When it comes to ordering a McDonald's, most people stick to their go-to favourite meals, only venturing outside their comfort zone when there's a tempting new item on their menu. But one American woman living in Australia wanted to compare her home country's menu with the Aussie version - and she noticed several surprising differences right away.

Annika Swanson immediately clocked how you get more for your money in the States, with them dishing out larger portion sizes for less money than you'd pay in Australia. Not only that but there's also a limit on when you can buy certain items in Australia - unlike in America when you can tuck into a McChicken whenever you want.

Speaking on TikTok, Annika said: "We're at Australian McDonald's. I cannot get over the McChicken is $7.35. It's way cheaper in America. You also can't get McChickens after certain times. Oh brother."

She continues scrolling through the Aussie options on one of their touch screen systems, commenting on all the items she's never seen before.

Pointing to cheese toasties, macaroons and sparkling water, she said: "That is something we don't have in America. They also have three piece McNuggets, which they don't have in America, which is what I'm getting."

When sitting down to eat her meal with her friends, she commented on how the nuggets taste the same in both countries.

But one of her friends rated the chicken bites a 7.5/10 saying they have a "good flavour" but are "too small", while another shared her thoughts on the small tub of sauce she was given alongside her meal saying it "seems illegal".

Commenting on her video, one user said: "Seems like a crime to get nuggets without sweet and sour sauce."

Another user added: "It's good to try McDonalds in different countries. Did you know McCafe started in Australia."

A third user said: "Check the ingredients list for the McChicken and compare Aus to US. It's about time they have a breakfast menu and day menu."

One more user said: "When I went to the US I ordered a large cheeseburger meal and you automatically got a second burger for free."
