A new debate has erupted on social media over a topic that most of us would probably think has quite an obvious answer - how often do you change your underwear?
The debate was sparked by one woman who posted on Reddit after a discussion she'd had with her boyfriend on the subject, as she wanted to know which of them was in the right.
The woman explained that while she changes her underwear every day, her boyfriend will only put on fresh pants and socks after he's had a shower, and if he decides not to shower one day, then he'll re-wear his underwear from the day before.
In a post on the AskUK forum on Reddit, the woman asked: "Do you change your underwear and socks every day or every time you shower?
"I change my underwear and socks every morning, regardless of if I've showered or not. My partner changes his underwear and socks every time he showers, and thinks I'm odd for changing them every day - who's the weirdo here?"
The post sparked a huge debate with over 500 Brits taking to the comments to voice their opinion, with most of them agreeing that underwear should be changed every day - and many saying it's "gross" not to.
One person said: "Ew, he's the weirdo."
While another added: "Your boyfriend is a gross weirdo."
But others said the woman was just as bad as her boyfriend, as they argued people should shower "at least" once a day, so should never be in a situation where they're changing their underwear but not showering.
Some even said they shower more than once a day, and will put on fresh underwear after each one.
One commenter wrote: "I shower every day and I change my socks, underwear and shirt every day. Why would anyone not do this?"
As someone else shared: "Everyday minimum, and if I had more than one shower in a day I'd put on fresh underwear with each shower."
There were several who disagreed with this idea though, as they pointed out it was a bad idea to shower so often, as it can be bad for your skin - as well as wasting water.
Someone stated: "Showering every day is bad for your skin so I wash every morning but shower every other day. Clean underwear is a must, and if it's been a hot day I'll change my underwear when I come home from work too."
And another agreed, posting: "This thread is so first-world - showering with drinkable, fresh water multiple times a day. Unless you've been working out/doing physical work or it's been a few days since [your last shower], you don't need to shower that day. Your body is designed to have oil build up on the skin/hair, not to be constantly purged every 12 hours."
