A woman has spoken of her shock after spotting Princess Diana's face on a slice of ham.
Hattie Osma, from Cheltenham Spa, bought the packet of ham from Tesco to make sandwiches for lunch at work. After opening the packet and eating the top slice, the 36-year-old noticed what looked like a silhouette of Diana's face staring back at her.
Hattie says everyone who has seen the slice of ham has been "really spooked by it", with one colleague at work even offering to buy it from her for £30.
Hattie turned the offer down and insists she intends to preserve the piece of meat, perhaps even putting it on display in her house.
Speaking to the Metro, Hattie said: "I loved Princess Diana growing up, she was the people’s princess. She was 'hamazing'.
"I peeled the top slice off and ate it before making my ham sandwich and noticed Diana looking up at me. I’m really glad I didn’t eat it.
"I was shocked at first, and everyone who’s seen it is really spooked by it and shocked.
"Someone in the office offered me £30 for the slice, but I politely declined."
Hattie is not sure if Diana's shock appearance on the slice of ham is a coincidence, given the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla takes place on May 6.
The late princess is, of course, Charles' former wife, with the pair announcing their separation in 1992 before their divorce was finalised in 1996. The King married Camilla in April 2005, and she became Queen Consort following Queen Elizabeth II’s death earlier this year.
Hattie, who believes the silhouette is a "reminder of Diana's beauty", is now making enquiries to see how she can preserve the piece of ham.
"I will try and see if it can be preserved for display for my house," Hattie said, when asked if she would consider eating the piece of meat.
