Woman accidentally sends girlfriend Moonpig card - for someone with 'itchy bum bum'

A long-distance couple were left cracking up after a sweet romantic gesture went bottoms up.

Martina Smith sent girlfriend Naomi a card and chocolates to cheer her up while she was feeling unwell.

Based in London, Martina, 41, has been having a long-distance relationship with Naomi who lives 200 miles away in Manchester.

Hoping the card and gift would put a smile on Naomi's face, the pair were instead left in stitches after the wrong card was accidentally sent out from another customer to a pal experiencing an "itchy bum bum".

The intimate message, meant for someone named only as 'Dominic', appeared to have been sent in error from Moonpig - but certainly managed to still do the job of cheering her up.

The 42-year-old said she cracked up when she realised what had happened.

Although the chocolates and the address were right, the card inside was completely bizarre, showing two little boys on the front and addressed to 'Dominic.'

And even worse, inside it read: "To my best mate Dominic. I hope you get better soon so we can play and hope your bum bum isn't too itchy. Lots of love Oliver."

Naomi said: "To be honest we both found it hilarious, and so did everyone on Facebook, but imagine what sort of parent sends a get well card to another child about their itchy bum?"

Martina added: "It was just after we'd had a lovely weekend together that Naomi wasn't well so I thought I'd send her a card and some chocs to make her feel better.

"She got the chocs and then asked me who Dominic and Oliver were as if I'd made up some new alter egos for us.

"And she added that her bum bum was perfectly fine, thank you very much.

"We both found it hilarious but I feel for the poor boys Dominic and Oliver who didn't get the happy birthday cards."

When Martina contacted Moonpig they credited her account with the cost of a new card and next day delivery.

A customer service representative added: "I am sorry to hear that you have not received the correct card with your order.

"I can understand how disappointed you must be when you've taken the time to customise your items.

"I am sorry for any inconvenience caused."

The online cards company delivered 57 million personalised cards in the financial year 2022.

Moonpig was contacted for further comment.
