Wolves send clear Morgan Gibbs-White transfer message to Nottingham Forest

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage has reiterated his desire to keep hold of Nottingham Forest transfer target Morgan Gibbs-White beyond the summer transfer window.

The midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to the City Ground this summer, Forest having had bids rejected for the 22-year-old. The interest comes after Gibbs-White enjoyed a successful loan spell with Sheffield United last season, where he scored 12 goals and provided a further nine assists.

He started Wolves’ opening match of the season against Leeds United last week and is in line to make his second start of the campaign when Wolves host Fulham this afternoon (Saturday). Having previously worked with him in England youth teams and at Swansea City, Reds boss Steve Cooper is keen on another reunion this summer.

However, Lage has sent a clear message over the midfielder’s future. “I want him. One thing that I want is all the best players,” he said, via BirminghamLive .

“The other thing is the question of the market. We cannot have players that go to the end of their contract like Adama (Traore).

“I’m here and I still talk to Adama. I can see him and he’s very happy. He’s going to play for us but in one year he’s available for free. I need to understand that part from the club.

“We keep the players and if they go, we don’t have nothing to replace that kind of player. We’re trying to do our best. I want to keep all the players with me. But in the end, we need to find the right balance.

“If you ask me, Morgan, it’s important for you. He’s a player who can be one of the best players in two or three years in the country, I believe so.

“Wolves want to keep Morgan, yes. Morgan wants to play for Wolves, the way he has played since day one in Spain, yes. Now, just to find the best deal. The club has time to talk to him. I’ve already talked with him. Let’s hope we finalise the situation and it’s good for everyone.”
