Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes has red card vs Leeds United overturned

The Football Association have confirmed that Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes has had the red card he received against Leeds United overturned.

Nunes was sent off for violent conduct during Wolves' 4-2 defeat against Leeds at Molineux last Saturday. He remonstrated with officials after Rodrigo scored deep into second half stoppage time for Leeds, which Wolves felt should have been ruled out for a foul on Adama Traore.

Julen Lopetegui voiced his frustration after the game, saying: "It's not a red card. He was complaining about the linesman."

Wolves appealed the red card decision on the grounds of wrongful dismissal, and their claim was upheld by the FA. As a result, Nunes will now be available for the club's next three Premier League games.

"Matheus Nunes will be available for the next three Wolverhampton Wanderers games following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal," an FA spokesperson said.

"The midfielder was sent off for violent conduct during the club’s Premier League game against Leeds United on Saturday 18 March."

Leeds climbed out of the relegation zone and into 14th place after goals from Jack Harrison, Luke Ayling, Rasmus Kristensen, and Rodrigo propelled them to a crucial victory.

Javi Gracia's men will head into the international break sitting two points clear of the bottom three, and face a difficult trip to the Emirates Stadium where they'll go head-to-head with league leaders Arsenal upon their return to action.
