Wishaw charities team up for free event this weekend

Two Wishaw charities are teaming up for a fun day this weekend.

Go Together is hosting a free outdoor fun day from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday, at St Andrew’s Church on Belhaven Terrace.

At the same time, Go Kids Performing Arts Scotland (GKPA) on Russell Street will have information on what both charities do, along with some friends and agencies giving information on their services.

Garry King Snr, from Go Together, said: “We are having a double information fun day aimed at supporting our Local Community, with the theme of climate change being the focus.

“Everything is free on the day and is aimed at raising awareness of climate change and what we can do as a community to help our world.”

Garry set up Go Together, which was awarded charitable status last year, to provide help to people who are isolated, elderly, disabled, or struggling with everyday tasks that many take for granted.

A key focus of their work is helping local people who are recovering from addiction issues.

Based at the church on Belhaven Terrace, the group has also been busy carrying out improvements to the grounds there and building a drop-in centre.
