Rodri has picked up an injury problem that forced him out of contention for Manchester City's Premier League derby against Manchester United.
Pep Guardiola confirmed that Rodri suffered his injury in the final training session before Sunday's derby. Guardiola added he decided not to risk including him in the squad ahead of a busy schedule before the Premier League takes a break for the World Cup in November.
City had confirmed that Rodri 'wasn't fully fit' to be in the squad vs United, with Guardiola expanding on that in an interview with Sky Sports ahead of kick-off at the Etihad.

Also missing was John Stones, who felt his hamstring on international duty and will miss at least the next two weeks.
"Both are injured, yesterday Rodri in training session, last one, felt something," Guardiola explained. "A little bit more than niggles in his leg and we couldn't take risks with this tough schedule."
In Rodri's place came Ilkay Gundogan, with summer signing Kalvin Phillips having undergone surgery to correct a troublesome shoulder injury.
Guardiola continued: "Kalvin is injured as well. When the biggest clubs in history have the success they have, excuses don't exist in the locker room. In the season it happens with Gundo, if Gundo cannot play we play another one, just to be ourselves."
